A strange story that I've yet to hear, the former CN SD40 trails today on its way back towards Canada. The Canadian remnants on this engine are faint, but there. The low brake whejl, the eyebolts on the pilot, the split air reservoir above the fuel tank, and a vertical headlight on the rear. Other than that, she looks awfully La Grange to me. |

Well, not really. The WC SD45 replacements were common place here for many years during the mid 2000's, but the other batch of GCFX SD40 rebuilds were CSX units for nearly eight years. The GEVO's came and so went the GCFX 3059-3102, but were then patched as CITX's and have been on CP since. So seeing an Alstom engine back at New Brighton was pretty neat, even if these CSX units were never really a fixture. |

Originally I was at 44th Ave bridge (over BN's Northtown yard) and saw way down near 35th Ave that this train was entering Shoreham. So, the chase was on. A BN Z Train held this train (CP 496) in place long enough for me to arrive nearly 20 blocks away in time for a shot of the ex CNW 878! |
