Album Info:Only four shots, but a good trip. After hearing the MDMCN had left the night before with these two CSX EMD's, It didn't take much for me to hop in the car and go find them in the morning. A 2 and a half hour drive just for a possibility of roster shots! Crazy, I know...Anyway, not familiar with the jobs up in this neck of the woods, I went to the UP yard at Itasca and found nothing. Upon a few phone calls, I was on my way to the DWP at Pokegama, and upon arrival I found the two basking in the morning sun. I waited for the sun to be a bit more kind and then went and finished the job in the afternoon.

Description:  What a pair! Not to mention the UP keeping this power on the MDMCN all the way up to South Saint Paul, and then kept it on as the sole power all the way up until its final destination, the CN's Pokegama yard. This sort of thing just doesn't happen anymore, atleast with good power like this.

Description:  A standard shot of the two EMD's, both of Seaboard heritage. Nice to see the 8117, a very sharp looking SD40-2. YN3,Bat Wing ditchlights, K5LA still proudly above the cab, and the subtle touch of silver on the headlight casing, making this beaut almost "stock" looking.

Title:  Once the "standard" of quality
Description:  Not anymore, atleast for the people in charge of the power desk. But these old girls still get plenty of chances to continue plying the high iron as intended, although rarely on foriegn railroads nowadays. I think this qualifies as a "Holy Sh*t" moment in todays railroading, a CSX SD40-2 resting on the ready tracks at Pokegama after doing the honors for the UP's MDMCN.
